Coming together, sharing knowledge learning the recent advances, revising the basics and acquiring the knowledge of Medico legal aspects of practice, imbibing the practical knowledge and skills in upcoming Gynaecologists and Obstetricians is the aim of OGSH.
The Obstetric & Gynaecological Society of Hyderabad (OGSH) was established in the year 1957. Its first president of the Society was Dr. P.M. Naidu. The Society started with about fifty members and now 1150 members constitute it as one of the largest Society affiliated to Federation of Obstetric & Gynaecological Societies of India (FOGSI), Mumbai which is affiliated to Federation of International Gynaecological Organizations (FIGO), Geneva.
The main objectives of the Society are -
The Society has adopted Rural Villages focusing Woman’s Health in Rural Areas. Till date about 800 women have been provided treatment free of cost. Creating awareness and Eradicating HIV in women is also one of the focus of the Society. Our members are doing exemplary work concerning Mother and Child in the field of HIV. Our members are actively involved in the Adolescent Girls Programs being conducted in various High Schools and Junior Colleges. Our society is conducting Safe Abortion and Family Welfare programs in various institutes of the state, with an aim to reduce the Maternal Mortality in the State.
The Telangana Chapter of Obstetrics & Gynaecological Societies (TCOGS) formed by various district Societies of TS in 2005. The Annual Conference of Telangana Chapter of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists (TCOG) is held every year in one of the districts of TS. Now it has 8 Societies in TS Chapter has its own Managing Committee.
The Society organizes two-three scientific programs every month and annual CME program in the month of February / March. We also arrange from time-to-time conferences, discussions, workshops, and lectures on any aspect of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and allied subjects by eminent National and International Faculty.
Our members give counselling programs on electronic and print media. They hold national posts in FOGSI and have been a part of international conferences.
